Find the best Halloween movies on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon with our handy quiz

Your definitive guide to what to stream this Halloween.

Halloween is here — and if you're anything like us, you'll want to spend it with some grade-A horror movies burbling along in the background. There's nothing quite like celebrating the holiday with the most famous vampires, ghosts, and psycho killers of filmdom.

Fortunately, the rise of video streaming has made it far easier to watch great horror movies at your leisure. No longer will you show up to the video store at 9 am on Halloween, only to realize your only option is the Friday the 13th where Jason terrorizes Manhattan. However, while Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and HBO Go are forgiving, they can also have an intimidatingly large selection.

That's where we come in. Using the flowchart below, you can easily select one of the 40 scary movies we recommend for streaming this Halloween weekend, encompassing everything from the scariest of the scary to milder offerings that still feature things that go bump in the night. We've included 10 movies each from the four largest streaming services, so no matter which one(s) you subscribe to, you should be covered.

Happy Hallowstream. (Okay, we hate ourselves a little bit for that.)
