Amazon Confirms That the Giant Amazon Box From Reddit Is Real

Fake or not?

That has been one of the Internet’s burning questions after a photo of a giant Amazon box sitting on the back of a flat-bed truck popped up on Reddit yesterday. Even Jerry Seinfeld chimed in on Reddit with his call: “this is almost as fake as the Amazon Drone delivery system.”

But an Amazon spokeswoman just confirmed to Re/code that the box in the photo is the real deal. No Photoshop this time.

“Yes, it’s real,” Amazon’s Kristin Schaefer Mariani wrote in an email. “[I]t’s Nissan delivering a Versa Note, the final component of the advertising program we worked with them on late last year.”

As I wrote back in September, Nissan and Amazon teamed up for an ad campaign on Amazon’s homepage that directed car shoppers interested in buying one of Nissan’s new Versa Note cars to fill out a contact form on a special Amazon landing page. Those shoppers who purchased the car within 30 days of being contacted by their local Nissan dealer were to receive a $1,000 Amazon gift card. And then a few of the car buyers also got a special delivery — the car appeared at their door in a giant Amazon box.

So while Seinfeld may still doubt Amazon drones, he should no longer doubt the big brown box. Below is further proof.
