Reddit General Manager Erik Martin Is Leaving the Company

The six-year Reddit veteran didn’t disclose his next move.

Erik Martin, a six-year Reddit veteran and the current general manager, announced Monday that he’s leaving the company.

Martin, who announced his departure on Twitter, is leaving less than a month after Reddit raised $50 million in funding led by Y Combinator President Sam Altman. In his tweets, Martin did not explain why he was leaving. Earlier this month, VentureBeat reported that following Reddit’s new funding, all company employees would be required to live and work from San Francisco. Martin’s Twitter and LinkedIn bios say he’s living in New York.

And while he didn’t offer an explanation for the job change, Martin did respond to all his well-wishers with different animated GIFs. Numerous Twitter users asked Martin what was next. Based on his GIF responses, it’s still up in the air.
