Ryan Seacrest Makes Another Digital Deal, This Time With Tastemade, for TV

Another tasty digital treat from the Hollywood producer/star/entrepreneur.

Tastemade

Hollywood’s Ryan Seacrest is in deep danger of becoming a hipster nerd, it seems, with yet another digital deal. In this case, it’s high-profile online food video platform Tastemade, for which the producer/star/entrepreneur will develop food and lifestyle television programming.

Seacrest’s Ryan Seacrest Productions has become increasingly active in the digital arena, ranging from an investment in a keyboard for the Apple iPhone called Typo to talks with Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer about possible content partnerships.

The terms of the deal between the two Los Angeles-area companies are undisclosed.

Tastemade has become a bit of a media darling of late, leveraging its creative users by distributing all kinds of snappy digital content they make related to food on YouTube and also the iPhone with its app (an app for Google’s Android mobile operating system is coming).

It’s often called the Food Network for YouTube — where Tastemade’s channel plays big. The startup calls their creators — natch — “Tastemakers.” And it’s motto: “Not your mother’s food network.” Ha. (Kinda.)

Tastemade is funded by Redpoint Ventures and Raine Ventures, having raised just over $15 million. It was founded by three former execs from online content network Demand Media.
