Samsung Galaxy Note Pro, Tab Pro Series Coming to U.S. February 13

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Samsung announced today that its Galaxy Note Pro and Galaxy Tab Pro tablets will be available starting Feb. 13 in the U.S.

First introduced at CES, there are four models in the series. You can preorder the Wi-Fi-enabled Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Tab Pro 10.1 or Tab Pro 8.4 now from various retailers, including Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon. But the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 isn’t expected to ship till March, which gives you extra time to save up some money because these tablets don’t come cheap.

Pricing for the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 starts at $750 for the 32 gigabyte model and it’s $100 more if you want the 64GB version. Meanwhile, the Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1 and 8.4 costs $650, $500 and $400, respectively.

Verizon will also offer a 4G LTE version of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 later this quarter, but a specific release date and pricing were not revealed at this time.

Samsung’s goal with the Galaxy Note Pro and Tab Pro is to offer customers a tablet that can serve as a true productivity tool and not just a media consumption device. All models feature 2,560 by 1,600 pixel resolution touchscreens and come preloaded with productivity apps like Hancom Office for Android and a Remote PC Client.

Each model also features Samsung’s new Magazine UX, which looks like a blend of Flipboard and Microsoft’s Metro user interface. But the future of the new UI is in question after the company was pressured by Google to dial back its Android tweaks and homegrown apps.

Perhaps we’ll find out more when Samsung unveils its next round of products at Mobile World Congress in just a few weeks. The company will be hosting its “Unpacked 5” event on Feb. 24 in Barcelona, where we could see the debut of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and new wearable devices.
