Salar Kamangar will shuffle to a role developing his own early-stage projects.

Google CEO Larry Page said in an emailed statement, “Salar and the whole YouTube team have built something amazing. YouTube is a billion person global community curating videos for every possibility. Anyone uploading their creative content can reach the whole world and even make money. Like Salar, Susan has a healthy disregard for the impossible and is excited about improving YouTube in ways that people will love.”
As for the rest of the executive shuffle, sources said former YouTube boss Salar Kamangar is starting his own early-stage projects within Google, similar to what former Android head Andy Rubin did last year. (Rubin’s project ended up being robots, so perhaps Kamangar will do drones? Just kidding.)
Meanwhile, back at the ads and commerce division that Wojcicki is leaving behind, her co-leader Sridhar Ramaswamy will now be in charge of the whole unit.
All of these names are people who have been at Google at least 10 years.
Kamangar and Wojcicki joined Google in 1999 (they are employees nine and 16, respectively), and Ramaswamy in 2003. All three of them rose up through the ranks in the ads organization, though Kamangar also worked on products like Gmail and Docs. Wojcicki helped lead seminal projects such as image search and AdSense.
Kamangar was the first non-engineer at the company, and Wojcicki started in marketing. Ramaswamy is a software engineer.
