Moscow-based mobile games company Game Insight will close its U.S. office in San Francisco tomorrow, a company representative confirmed today to Re/code. Eight people worked in the office out of almost 1000 employees worldwide. The company initially focused on casual hidden-object games like Mystery Manor, but more recently had tried to pivot to more core gamer-oriented genres with games like Tank Domination, a World of Tanks-esque game on iOS. The game has had far stronger staying power in Russia, where it is a top-50 grossing app on iPad versus in the U.S. where it’s No. 239, according to App Annie. The spokesperson said Game Insight will report more details about a new “presence” in the U.S. in the coming days.
