Another month, another hardware win for Sony’s PlayStation 4 on U.S. retail shelves — its fourth consecutive, and fifth in the six months since launch, according to April data released today by the NPD Group. Overall hardware sales hit $193 million, a 76 percent increase year over year, while software contracted 10 percent to $228 million. Microsoft’s Xbox consoles owned more of those software dollars, though, with 2.2 million Xbox 360 games and 447,000 Xbox One games sold at retail, a 53 percent market share.
