What Schoolhouse Rock left out: How a bill really becomes a law

As Congressional gridlock and dysfunction worsen, only 103 of the 7,207 bills and joint resolutions introduced during this Congress have become law — fewer, by this point, than in any other Congress since at least the 1970s.

Schoolhouse Rock's "I'm Just a Bill" seems to be missing a few key steps as a result. So we made a sequel adding them back in, above, modeled off the steps of an actual bill – the DATA Act – that made it through the gauntlet of Capitol Hill alive. See each and every step explained in all its gory detail in our feature story on the bill's passage.
