Mobile Game Revenue in China Expected to Rival U.S. in 2014

In a new report, digital research firm SuperData said today it expects China to rival the United States in mobile games audience and revenue this year. Rising smartphone penetration, led by cheaper Android devices, will push monthly active users up 46 percent to 266 million, and revenue up 114 percent to $3 billion this year, the firm predicted. Stateside growth has matured and slowed, with expected gains of only five million new players and an additional $200 million on top of last year’s $3 billion revenue. Average revenue per paying user is already much higher in China, hitting $32.46 in Q1 2014, versus $21.60 in the U.S.
