Re/code on TV: Amazon Falls Short and Google Gets Healthy

The big bosses take a break from scoops and reviews to share insight into the week’s major stories.

Re/code’s big bosses took to the airwaves (or at least basic cable) this week to shed light on the latest tech headlines.

Co-Executive Editor Walt Mossberg went on “Squawk Alley” on Wednesday to discuss his review of the Amazon Fire smartphone. He said it “fell short,” often failing to correctly identify the very products Amazon is trying to sell through the device.

Fellow Co-Executive Editor Kara Swisher also appeared on “Squawk Alley” to talk Amazon, dropping in later in the week to hash through the company’s disappointing earnings results.

She also discussed Google’s latest plans in the health arena, the “Baseline Study.” The goal of the Google X research effort is “to establish a basic understanding of a healthy physiology at this most fundamental level,” by harnessing the company’s powerful algorithms and data centers to analyze medical data from healthy study participants.
