Sony Pictures Entertainment said its R-rated comedy “The Interview” has brought in $40 million in online and TV on-demand rentals and purchases, a milestone for the film studio that suffered a crippling cyber assault by hackers attempting to block the release of the movie. The movie deals with a fictional plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jung-un. The Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy has been rented or purchased through online services, as well as through cable, satellite and telecom providers. It has brought an additional $6 million since its limited theatrical release on Christmas Day.
