Sega Will Cut Hundreds of Jobs, Shutter San Francisco Studio

Long-troubled Japanese video game maker Sega said today that it will close its San Francisco office and offer “voluntary retirement” buyouts to 300 employees, including 120 Sega of America staffers. As arcade and packaged game revenues have fallen, the company hopes to refocus on smartphone and online PC games. Sega of America will be relocated to southern California to cut costs.
