Enterprise software company BMC Software has hired its new CTO from a division of networking giant Cisco Systems. A company memo from Bob Beauchamp, BMC’s CEO, dated Jan. 6 and obtained by Re/code, says the company has tapped Phil Harris, formerly the CTO of Cisco’s cloud and virtualization group, as its new senior VP and CTO. Harris will replace Kia Behnia, who will not return from a sabbatical. BMC has been privately held since late 2013, when it was bought out by a consortium led by Bain Capital in a deal worth $6.9 billion.
