The force will be with the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles at halftime Monday, as the trailer for the much-anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” debuts during ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” program.

It has been nearly 40 years since George Lucas took audiences to a galaxy far, far away to meet a young Luke Skywalker, who joined forces with a cocky pilot and a Wookiee to save the universe.

This seventh installment of the space cowboy series is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars actors who appeared in the original film: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. They’ll be joined in an intergalactic adventure by Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow.

Tickets to the film, which opens in U.S. theaters on Dec. 18, will go on sale after the trailer’s launch.
