Today, Microsoft released its first public preview of Windows 10 for phones, giving Windows Phone users a chance to check out the next version of the company’s mobile operating system. To try the preview, users will need to join the Windows Insider Program, but this first preview will only work on about half a dozen Windows Phone models, such as the Lumia 630, Lumia 730 and Lumia 830. In a blog post, Microsoft said it will continue to add support for other models, though it might be slow in the beginning. Introduced last month, Windows 10 for phones includes such new features as interactive notifications, enhanced speech-to-text capability and more quick actions. Part of Microsoft’s goal with Windows 10 is to provide a more consistent user experience across screens of all sizes.
