Twitter on Tuesday launched the Android version of Periscope, the company’s livestreaming product that lets people broadcast a live video feed from their smartphones.

The company bought Periscope back in January while it was still in beta, but has generated a lot of attention — both good and bad — for the product since it launched in late March. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo said more than one million people signed up for the app in its first 10 days.
The Android version should significantly boost Periscope’s user base. One bonus: the Android version has more selective controls around notifications than the iOS version. The app is most useful when you can tune into a broadcast live so notifications are generally a must, but can get overwhelming depending on whom you follow. Hopefully the new controls will help.
Costolo and Periscope CEO Kayvon Beykpour are slated to speak on Thursday at Re/code’s annual Code Conference in Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.
