Uber on Thursday filed a motion in a California court to fight the certification of a class action suit three drivers have filed against the ride-hailing company challenging their work status. A win for Uber means the case would only apply to the three drivers in California. If the class action case proceeds and the plaintiffs win, it could be force Uber to reclassify its contractors as employees in the state and incur more costs in payroll taxes and benefits.
