You Probably Used Facebook on Monday, Didn’t You?

One billion people used Facebook on Monday.

Seriously. One billion people — or roughly one third of the entire Internet population — used the social network in a single day. It’s the first time Facebook has ever crossed that daily milestone, according to a post from CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The number is massive, but not altogether shocking considering Facebook reported 968 million daily active users last quarter. (That DAU number is different, by the way, as it represents an average taken over an entire month.) But the billion-users-in-one-day milestone is a stark reminder of how much larger Facebook is than any other company in the space, and a subtle reminder that it probably knows more about us than any other company on the planet. Just in case you’d forgotten.
