Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Clans Top Apple App Store Downloads, Sales

Facebook, Google and Apple dominate App Annie’s rankings of top app downloads on iOS.

King / Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga and Clash of Clans ranked among the most downloaded games — and the highest revenue generators — in a new ranking of apps distributed through Apple’s App Store.

A new report from App Annie validates what anyone with an iPhone and time to kill already knows: Addicting, easy-to-play games including Angry Birds, Temple Run and Words With Friends rank among the Top 10 downloads through the iOS App Store. King’s puzzle game Candy Crush Saga reached the top ranking in more than 100 countries.

When it comes to money makers, App Annie ranks among the top revenue-generating games a pair of casino games, Big Fish Casino and Slotomania, and three titles from Finnish developer Supercell: Clash of Clans, Hay Day and Boom Beach.

App Annie’s rankings of top iOS app downloads are dominated by Facebook, Google and Apple.

Entertainment rules the roost when it comes to all-time highest revenue-generating apps, with music apps Pandora Radio and Spotify, sports app MLB.com At Bat and, er, dating app Grindr.
