Venture capitalist Peter Thiel is Donald Trump’s greatest champion in Silicon Valley. On Monday, he’ll explain why.

Thiel, who spoke at the Republican National Convention and donated $1.25 million to Trump’s campaign to the chagrin of much of the tech community, will hold a press conference Monday with reporters in what he told the New York Times “will have the give-and-take of debate.”

“I thought the best way to advance the discussion was not to have some completely contrived format,” Thiel, who is also a Facebook board member, told the Times. “The future of this country depends on us engaging with the tough questions.”

Thiel’s support of Trump has made serious waves in the tech world, especially given his previous role in bankrupting Gawker Media. His involvement and donation to Trump’s campaign has caused people to question his role at Facebook, and his involvement in the well-known startup incubator Y Combinator. (For what it’s worth, Thiel is still on Facebook’s board and Y Combinator says it’s okay with his political stance.)

The “debate” will take place at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Monday at 11 am ET. For those who care, it will be streamed live online as well.
