Trailers of the week: Rogue One, Underworld, and Dave Chappelle on SNL

Understandably, this week felt like a relatively quiet one for new TV and movie trailers. There was a massive election on Tuesday, Donald Trump’s stunning victory in the early hours of Wednesday, and the adjustment to that news, no matter whom you voted for.

So it’s not your fault if you missed the new trailers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Underworld: Blood Wars. In regards to the former, the crucial detail that everyone’s excited about is that it features the first look at one of the movie’s space fights.

As for Underworld: Blood Wars and the other new trailers that came out this week, here’s a brief recap of what you may have missed:

Dave Chappelle is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, with A Tribe Called Quest as the musical guest. Chappelle is always unpredictable, and after the presidential election this week, who knows what kind of hijinks he and SNL will get into for our entertainment.

It looks like the third season of Mozart in the Jungle will revolve around Rodrigo (Gael Garcia Bernal) and some trials and tribulations that result in him wanting to leave his orchestra — but he can’t because they’re his family. I totally understand this, as I would probably want to abandon my family if it consisted of 40 to 50 people whom I had to see and rehearse with on a daily basis.

Another year, another holiday movie with the potential to be an off-brand Love, Actually. The cast of Collateral Beauty includes Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Naomie Harris, and Michael Peña, among others, and tells the story of a man named Howard (Smith), who appears to be living in a deep cloud of grief-induced numbness. He writes letters to entities like Death (Mirren), Time, and Love (Knightley) and they, like the ghosts of A Christmas Story, end up trying to teach him about the significance of his life.

Anthony Hopkins stars in Solace, a movie that very purposely wants you to remember that Hopkins played the helpful murder-solving cannibal Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. In the new film, he still has to help solve murders, but he doesn’t eat people. The gist: A murderer (played by Colin Farrell) has the ability to see things before they happen, a psychic gift that Hopkins’s John Clancy shares with him. So whether he gets caught is a matter of probability, fate, and whether Hopkins can out-psychic a psychic.

The war between vampires and werewolves will only stop when people stop going to see Underworld movies. This installment, the sixth in the franchise, sees the return of Selene (Kate Beckinsale) to guard her vampires against yet another lycan threat. And it looks like she’s going to do it by going into the mountains to ask some ancient winter vampire queen warrior for pointers.

Dane DeHaan and Carla Delevingne star as Valerian and Laureline in this filmic adaptation of the popular French science fiction comic series. Valerian and Laureline are two law enforcement–type special operatives who traverse the universe to make sure everyone’s following the law. And their latest mission is to visit Alpha, which is basically the equivalent of New York, Paris, London, and Tokyo all rolled into one city and zapped into a sci-fi setting. The movie, directed by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) looks breathtaking, and it says a lot when a Rihanna cameo isn’t the most exciting part of the trailer.
