In two weeks, Goldman Sachs will lure some of Silicon Valley’s most influential investors to the tony Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas for its annual off-the-record internet conference. It’s a chance for attendees to hear from some of tech’s buzziest CEOs and for the Wall Street powerhouse to boost its reputation with the west coast tech crowd.
Here’s who Goldman Sachs thinks you should pay attention to in tech this year

That’s important since 2017 might be the year a lot of said tech startups finally go public, with possible moves from Airbnb, Snapchat and more, which is obviously of great interest to investment banks like Goldman.
More to the point, the event provides a glimpse into which startups and industries Goldman finds worthy — the speaker list is usually an indication of what and who is hot right now. As my colleague Peter Kafka explained last year: “The companies Goldman asks to come onstage are either the ones it thinks are most promising, or the ones it would like to land as clients, or some combination.”
In other words: Companies worth paying attention to.
Even though the Recode invite to the Goldman confab seems to have gotten lost in the mail, we still managed to wangle the rundown of speakers, courtesy of numerous attendees.
The event kicks off on November 16, but the keynote speakers — BuzzFeed’s Jonah Peretti, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen and Slack’s Stewart Butterfield — are set to speak on Nov 17.
(One appalling but unsurprising note: Of the 26 people listed on the agenda, only one is a woman: Goldman Sachs managing director Liz Milonopoulos. Since no one else is going to tell you, we will: This sucks, banker boys.)
