Heins’s potential ouster at wireless charging firm Powermat comes as part of a spat between factions on the company’s board of directors.

Heins has been running wireless charging firm Powermat, but that company has been locked in a legal battle between various factions on its board of directors. According to court documents, Heins will be out of that job if a mediated settlement is approved. Heins joined Powermat in late 2014.
As part of the proposed settlement, Heins and another executive would leave Powermat, with several board members also departing. The settlement also calls for the company to get $10 million in new loans.
Details of Heins’s ouster and the mediated settlement were reported earlier Sunday by the Jerusalem Post.
A Powermat representative was not immediately available for comment.
Powermat is best known for making the wireless charging gear used at Starbucks.
The adoption of wireless charging has been slowed by a fight over standards. According to the Jerusalem Post article, the directors who sued Heins and Powermat were upset over the company’s spending levels and charged that Heins was operating without an approved budget.
Update: A source close to the company says that no deal has been reached and that Heins and his management team continue to have the support of a majority of the company’s board of directors.
