Six newspapers in New Jersey have teamed up to publish a caustic editorial calling on Gov. Chris Christie to resign after he ended his unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for president.

The editorial, published jointly by the Asbury Park Press, Home News Tribune, Courier News, Cherry Hill Courier-Post, Daily Journal, and Morristown Daily Record, offers a laundry list of grievances against the governor:
We’re fed up with his long neglect of the state to pursue his own selfish agenda.
We’re disgusted with his endorsement of Donald Trump after he spent months on the campaign trail trashing him, calling him unqualified by temperament and experience to be president.
And we’re fed up with his continuing travel out of state on New Jersey’s dime, stumping for Trump, after finally abandoning his own presidential campaign.
Mere hours after the editorial was published, Christie appeared alongside Donald Trump in Florida, introducing the billionaire frontrunner after a slew of Super Tuesday wins. For the record, Christie, no doubt not yet accustomed to being another politician’s warmup act, didn’t look very happy to be there.
Christie’s endorsement of Trump has led many to speculate that he is positioning himself for a vice presidential nomination, or at least a Cabinet-level position in a Trump administration.
Needless to say, all that positioning has set New Jersey’s newspapers on edge.
“For the good of the state, it’s time for Christie to do his long-neglected constituents a favor and resign as governor,” the editorial reads. “New Jersey needs someone whose full attention is devoted to making life better for New Jersey’s citizens.”
If Christie refuses to resign, it goes on, New Jersey residents should initiate a campaign to recall him from office.
The newspapers aren’t the only ones frustrated with Christie’s performance. He’s beginning to get calls from the New Jersey legislature, from Democrats, and even a Republican, Assembly member Jack Ciattarelli.
