Snapchat has hired former Vanity Fair editor Betsy Lack to run global brand strategy

Lack ran Vanity Fair’s prestigious New Establishment conference series and magazine feature.

Snapchat has hired Betsy Lack, the former Vanity Fair editor who ran the company’s prestigious New Establishment conference series and magazine features, to be its new Head of Global Brand Strategy.

Lack worked at Vanity Fair for eight years before leaving in January and will start her job at Snapchat in June, a company spokesperson confirmed. She’ll report to Snapchat’s head of strategy, Imran Khan, who handles a lot of Snapchat’s business operations.

It’s not entirely clear what Lack will do in her new role, but let’s assume it will align with her title. That would mean helping grow Snapchat’s brand and audience, especially internationally, and probably doing some wheeling and dealing in the media world as well.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel spoke on stage at Vanity Fair’s first New Establishment Summit back in 2014. Here’s the video.
