Republicans turned off cameras during the gun control sit-in. Samantha Bee has a solution.

Democrats in the US House of Representatives are staging a sit-in on the House floor, calling for their Republican colleagues to vote on gun control legislation.

While the sit-in was initially being streamed on a live feed and on C-SPAN, the House has gone into recess and the cameras have been turned off, as they traditionally are during recess.

Democrats and activists have called on Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan to bring the House back into session or turn on the cameras. Comedian Samantha Bee — who has been outspoken about the need for gun control on her show Full Frontal — even gathered her staff on their office floor in solidarity.

And to ensure the American public gets a chance to see what’s happening on the House floor, Bee took it one step further: She has called on House Democrats to give her live updates, so her staff can reenact the protest.
