Facebook is bringing Instant Articles inside Messenger

Facebook is adding Instant Articles — which are articles hosted on Facebook and therefore very quick to load — inside of its standalone messaging app, Messenger.

If you see a little lightning bolt in the upper-righthand corner of an article shared with you in Messenger, that means it’s an Instant Article and should load way quicker than a regular web article.

Worth noting: Ads that are sold alongside Instant Articles on Facebook will travel with those same articles to Messenger. That could mean more ad revenue for publishers using Instant Articles, and perhaps more incentive to host their content on Facebook in the first place.

The change is coming to Android on Thursday, and iOS devices “next week,” according to a Facebook blog post.
