Amazon plans to hire 100,000 new employees over the next 18 months — good news, but part of a wrenching shift in the retail workforce, with chains like Macy’s, Sears and Walmart cutting jobs at a faster rate. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson met with Donald Trump and, according to the company, the proposed $85 billion acquisition of Time Warner did not come up.
