Watch: Justice League’s new official trailer

It’s time to get the team together.

A new trailer for Warner Bros.’ Justice League debuted on Saturday, providing our second official look — the first trailer premiered last July during San Diego Comic-Con — at the studio’s counter to Marvel’s Avengers. Previously, we saw Batman (Ben Affleck) assembling the Justice League and making elevator pitches to the likes of Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and the Flash (Ezra Miller).

The trailer unleashes the first hint of the movie’s main villain — we get a taste of his minions — but also gives us a look at just how cool Aquaman, the Flash, and Cyborg’s powers are. (That trident! Super speed! Laser blasts!) There’s also a small glimpse of Mera (Amber Heard).

Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder, is an important film for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Depending on how Wonder Woman does when it comes out in June, Justice League — which comes out in November — will have the chance to either build or start momentum for DC Comics’ other solo heroes like Aquaman, Cyborg, and the Flash. Those three aren’t as popular or well-recognized as the trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, and a charismatic introduction to them in Justice League would be good for the studio.

Justice League is also an opportunity for redemption. Though die-hard DC Comics fans will tell you there wasn’t anything wrong with the 2016 films Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, the films were critical bombs, and both suffered massive declines at the box office after their opening weekends. If Justice League turns out to be a great movie and is critically well-received, it could start a new streak for DC and Warner Bros. and lay a confident foundation for the rest of their cinematic superhero universe.

Justice League is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
