Nordstrom co-President Erik Nordstrom and OneMarket CEO Don Kingsborough are speaking at Code Commerce at Shoptalk

They’ll join the leaders of Rent the Runway, DoorDash and The Cheesecake Factory at the March 20 event.

Jason Del Rey
Jason Del Rey has been a business journalist for 15 years and has covered Amazon, Walmart, and the e-commerce industry for the last decade. He was a senior correspondent at Vox.

In 2018, you’re either Amazon or you’re at risk of being disrupted by Amazon.

And if you find yourself in the latter bucket, it probably makes sense to at least consider collaborating with peers that find themselves facing similar challenges — and opportunities.

That’s essentially the premise of OneMarket, a spinoff of the Westfield mall company, that aims to bring together retailers, malls and technology companies to do things like share data and purchase new technology products from a shared resource in an effort to better compete with digital-native companies like Amazon.

One of OneMarket’s early retail partners is Nordstrom, the $8.6 billion upscale department store chain that has adapted to the digital revolution better than most of its peers.

And that’s why I’m thrilled that Nordstrom co-President Erik Nordstrom will be joining me onstage at Recode’s Evening with Code Commerce event on March 20 during the Shoptalk conference in Las Vegas. He’ll be joined by OneMarket CEO Don Kingsborough, an industry veteran who has held leadership roles at Westfield, PayPal and Blackhawk Network.

We’ll discuss what the two companies hope to accomplish together, the obstacles that OneMarket will face turning its vision into reality and the steps Nordstrom is taking to thrive in online retail while continuing to bring new customers through its brick-and-mortar doors.

The Code Commerce event will also feature Recode’s signature, unscripted interviews with Rent the Runway CEO Jennifer Hyman, as well as DoorDash CEO Tony Xu and The Cheesecake Factory’s David Gordon.

And before the live journalism segment of the evening begins, you’ll get time to mingle with a roomful of 200 of your most interesting peers during a cocktail hour.

Sounds great.

The catch? These events do sell out, so register today to secure your spot. Kara Swisher and I will see you in Vegas on March 20.
