Uber and Airbnb are two of the most important companies to come out of Silicon Valley in years. Almost overnight, they’ve made fundamental changes in the way the world thinks about transportation, housing, travel and work itself.

That’s why Kara Swisher and I are delighted that the leaders of both companies are coming to this year’s Code Conference, where we talk to the most influential people in technology — and in the world that technology is disrupting.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi had a long career running online travel leader Expedia, but until last summer you probably hadn’t heard of him. Now he’s in the limelight as he tries to overhaul Uber’s corporate culture while preparing it for one of the most anticipated IPOs in history.

Ten years ago, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky was a young designer who wanted a new way to rent out his apartment. Now he’s running a company that generated close to $3 billion last year by listing some four million rooms and homes around the world.

Khosrowshahi and Chesky will sit down for Code’s signature red-chair interviews — in-depth and unscripted conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing them both.
