It’s finally here: the big unofficial finale for the MCU “Infinity Saga,” which began with the release of Iron Man in 2008, is at long last in theaters. No spoilers, of course, but Avengers: Endgame is a satisfying conclusion to years of cascading plots and characters, and it manages to weave together many threads from past films in a way that feels like a true conclusion.
If it doesn’t all totally hang together — plot holes, science-y weirdness, and questions aplenty remain — that doesn’t really matter. What Endgame pulls off that some of its predecessors never could is true emotional resonance, with some well-choreographed battles and tearjerkers aplenty. And it sets the stage for a new era in the MCU, too.
