Hillary Clinton says the news makes her want to “look at cat GIFs.” Us too.

It’s been an incredibly brutal news cycle for survivors of sexual assault, women who know what it’s like to deal with creeps, men who aren’t creeps, and pretty much all decent human beings.

One of our two major nominees for president, Donald Trump, was caught on tape bragging about sexual assault (which he said was nothing more than “locker room talk”). Then women accused him of actually committing sexual assault. And then Trump and company made victim-blaming attacks on those accusers.

It’s all just kind of a lot to deal with.

Hillary Clinton apparently feels the same way: “It makes you want to unplug the internet or just look at cat GIFs,” she told supporters in San Francisco Thursday.

Yes. Yes, it does.

Then Clinton’s communications director offered to pass along any important cat GIFs to Hillary:

The responses have been so, so good. And remind us just how many great cat GIFs (hard “g,” people) are out there. So in the interest of healing our national wounds and performing self-care, enjoy.

It’ll be okay!!

We’ll get over this!

We’re here for each other! Just like these kittens who think they’re people!

Fish are amazing.

Dolphins, which are not fish, are still amazing.

BOOP.

I know, right?

Yes. At least for one brief moment, yes it is.
