How a refugee gets to America, explained by an actual refugee

How easy is it to get to America as a refugee? Many politicians, particularly governors of now 26 states, make it out to be a simple process — so simple that would-be terrorists could use the system to sneak in. To demonstrate just how long the process is, Bosnian American Association of Iowa executive director Buljušmić-Kustura Arnesa, a refugee, tweeted out her own family’s journey. It’s a long read, which should tell you a lot about how the system works.
