On Friday, Davis, 13, became the first girl to throw a shutout in the 67-year history of the LLWS. She is only the fourth girl to ever compete in the event. Her performance for Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons on Friday was dominating:

Davis and her 70-mph fastball have been a bright spot amid an ugly and unrelenting news cycle. She's already inspiring young girls to watch the game, and her story is a testament to going against the status quo. According to the Taney Dragons website, team merchandise is currently out of stock. Superstars like NBA MVP Kevin Durant and Lil' Wayne have shown their support for Davis.

Even though Davis is crushing it at baseball, it might not even be her favorite sport. Davis has said that she wants to play point guard for the reigning NCAA champion UConn Huskies women’s basketball team, and eventually play in the WNBA.
