Chinese phone maker Xiaomi, which until now has sold only accessories in the U.S., plans to start selling an Android TV set-top box here later this year.

The company said the Mi Box will support ultra-high-definition 4K video content as well as high-dynamic-range color display, a feature that will come with Android N. HDR, already popular on cameras, allows for a wider range of colors to be displayed at a single time.

Xiaomi, which is trying to deal with increased competition in its home market, has been selling accessories in the U.S. since last year, but the Mi Box will be its first Android device sold here.

Two years after launching an international expansion to India and other markets, Xiaomi still gets more than 90 percent of its phone sales from its home market.

The Mi Box will launch in the U.S., with other markets to follow. The company said pricing and availability will be announced later.
